Contributing, or buying a copy The Reporters Committee is proud to make the Open Government Guide available -- instantly and at no charge -- to anyone who needs to obtain access to government records and meetings. Free assistance has been a three-decade tradition at the Reporters Committee. Our toll-free emergency hotline is available to any journalist with a legal question, and we have never charged anyone for this service. But producing publications like the Open Government Guide and manning our hotline do require funds, and we hope you will help us continue to provide the same level of service to journalists in the future by making a donation to the Reporters Committee. Your donation will help keep the hotline open. It will let us continue to produce free or low-cost publications on a number of legal topics of interest to journalists. It will allow us to write friend-of-the-court briefs in cases around the country that affect the media. It will help us defend the First Amendment from the constant attempts to limit the freedom of the press. But we're not asking for money for nothing.
