Reporters Committe: Let "Fighting Sioux" Fight be Public

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press urged a North Dakota judge to give the public access to records of the University of North Dakota’s battle with the NCAA over use of the name “Fighting Sioux.” Reporters Committee Executive Director Lucy Dalglish noted that the very public dispute has been going on for more than a decade and that while the desire for a settlement is understandable, “it can’t come at the expense of the public being shut out of the process.” (10/2/07)
