UPDATE: U.S. SUPREME COURT

In late May the U.S. Supreme Court decided not to review the decision of the federal court of appeals in Pasadena (9th Cir.) that a flight attendant cannot sue ABC for videotaping and audiotaping her without her permission.

In 1994 an ABC news crew surreptitiously recorded a conversation between a reporter and Beverly Deteresa, a flight attendant on the flight O.J. Simpson took on the night of his ex-wife’s murder. The appeals court held that a conversation about a newsworthy topic with an identified reporter was not subject to California’s confidential conversation law.
