Coalition Suit Forces Pension Fund to Open Records
· Story link
The California First Amendment Center won its suit to force the California Public Employees’ Retirement System to open its records on payments to venture capitalists and hedge fund managers who handled its investments. Calpers had previously made public only the cumulative results of its $3 trillion investment portfolio. It puts some $13.5 billion into riskier investments but has never made public the results. The records released showed virtually no return on investments handled by several of the 145 firms involved. (12/8/04)
