Montana State Senator Jim Elliott took his fight over Revenue Department records to the state supreme court, claiming the state’s constitution trumps laws that restrict access to tax information. . Elliott thinks corporations would be play fewer games if their returns were public record. “When you find out that 40 percent of the big corporate taxpayers paid less than $500 in tax, you begin to think something is amiss,” he said.
