Don’t Limit Records Access to Residents, Reporters Committee Urges

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press asked a federal appeals court in Philadelphia affirm a lower court ruling that struck down a Delaware law which restricts access of out-of-state residents to state public records. In a friend-of-the-court brief, the Reporters Committee noted that information on the 500,000 businesses incorporated in the state is of critical importance to the public and the law on non-resident access “frustrates both journalists ability to fulfill their duty to the public and the public’s interest.” (11/28/05)
