The Justice Department sent the Senate Judiciary Committee a nine-page letter renewing its opposition to a reporter’s shield law. Among its objections, it said requiring the government to present “clear and convincing evidence” that national security concerns required that a reporter reveal a confidential source places “impermissible burdens on the the constitutional responsibilities of the President and the Executive branch.” 6/23/06)
