Illinois AG Reviewing Governor’s Policy in Not Releasing Copies of Subpoenas
· Story link
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office said it will review the policy of Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s administration to withhold from the public copies of subpoenas it receives from law-enforcement agencies or to provide information about them. A spokeswoman said the policy runs counter to the attorney general’s interpretation of the state’s Freedom of Information Act. The governor’s office contends the subpoenas are part of the confidential grand jury process. (7/27/06)
