Justice Says FOIA Improvements On Track, "Firmly Embraced"
· Story link
The Justice Department says that the 91 federal departments and agencies have “firmly embraced” the President’s December 2005 executive order to agencies to improve FOIA performance and that there has been an “immediate and widespread positive effect” on FOIA operations. It said particular attention is being paid to reducing request backlogs. The order deals only with the quality of service to requesters, not the decision making on whether to release requested information. (10/31/06)
