As the result of a series of Seattle Times reports that showed widespread judicial abuse of the authority to seal court records, judges in King County Superior Court have halted the practice. No records have been sealed in nine months, the paper reported, and 42 sealed files have been opened. Sealed files in other counties are also being opened, the paper said. (1/2/07)
