White House, Secret Service Sign Pact to Seal Visitor Information
· Story link
White House visitor logs are presidential records, not Secret Service records, and not subject to public disclosure, according to an agreement between White House officials and the Secret Service. They signed the agreement last spring when a major lobbying scandal prompted questions about who was visiting, when. The agreement became public when lawyers used it in an effort to convince a judge the logs shouldn’t be turned over to the Washington Post, which is suing the Secret Service. The judge has yet to rule. (1/9/07)
