California’s Department of Justice put in place a new policy on withholding contract information as confidential after an Associated Press report that investigation found tens of millions of dollars of contracts were improperly shielded from public view. The new policy requires that any denials of information as “confidential” be in writing and be approved by someone at a supervisory level. (3/21/07)
