The Illinois State Police seem indifferent to public records requests. The State-Journal Register in Springfield reported they routinely turn down information requests, in one case citing privacy in refusing to release information on a 1947 murder case. The paper said that in 2006, the agency granted only 175 of 700 public records requests and didn’t know what it did with 200 of the those requests. (4/24/07)
