The South Carolina Supreme Court ruled that a school district had violated the state’s Freedom of Information Act when it refused to release information on the candidates for the post of superintendent. “FOIA must be construed so as to make it possible for citizens to learn and report fully the activities of public officials,” the court said in a unanimous ruling.
