NASA Withholds Data on Four Year Air Safety Survey

NASA spend four years and $8.5 million surveying 24,000 commercial and general aviation pilots on air safety, learning that that near-misses and runway interference occur much more often that previously recognized. But government refuses to disclose the results. NASA, after stringing the Associated Press along for 14 months on a Freedom of Information Act request, said “no.” Now its administrator, after initial reports and a threat of investigation from Congress, said the agency will take another look.
