The military has decided to make it difficult for families of service members who commit suicide to get information about the death. Families get a simple notice of the official findings but must file a Freedom of Information Act request if they want more information. That can take months, or longer. The Army says it requires a formal request because some families don’t want the information. (12/19/07)
