The Reporters Committee is looking for its inaugural Yelp Fellow to support work at the intersection of technology and press freedom
This fall, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press will welcome its inaugural Yelp Fellow to support our work on issues at the intersection of press freedom and emerging technology, such as digital security, the Freedom of Information Act, a federal shield bill and other policy matters that affect news reporting.
In addition to conducting policy research, the fellow will explore and analyze the impact of court decisions and technology developments on newsgathering and press freedoms.
We are currently accepting applications from current graduate, law or undergraduate students for this new fellowship position. Applicants should have a background in journalism, knowledge of national policy issues, or experience conducting policy research and legal analysis, as well as demonstrate a commitment to the Reporters Committee’s mission to provide legal support to journalists and news organizations. Ideal candidates will have experience working in a collaborative environment and producing quality work on deadline.
The fellowship is a full-time, 12-week position and will begin in the fall 2018 semester. Requests for a part-time, 24-week position will be considered.
To apply, submit a cover letter, resume and writing sample to Policy Director Rick Blum at rblum@rcfp.org. Applications will be accepted and considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
