Chris Vachon

Chris Vachon joined the Reporters Committee in 2021 as the Lead Campaign and Major Gifts Manager. In her role on the Development Team, Chris oversees the day-to-day planning, coordination and management of an endowment campaign to match a $10 million investment from the Knight Foundation to sustain the Local Legal Initiative.

Before joining the Reporters Committee, Chris Vachon served as Investigative Reporters and Editors’ director of partnerships for almost four years. There, she led efforts involving fundraising, sponsorships, fellowships, business partnerships and related new initiatives.

Prior to IRE, Vachon worked at the Society of Professional Journalists for 14 years. At SPJ, her work included grant management, fundraising, conference and event planning, sponsorships, business partnerships, and scholarships. Previously, Vachon worked as a sales representative for Standard Register Co. and assistant dean of students at Purdue University.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Ball State University in Indiana and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
