Kristen Rasmussen
Kristen works primarily on court access and prior restraint issues. A native of Pensacola, Fla., she received her bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism in 2000 from Texas Christian University, where she was managing editor of the TCU Daily Skiff and a free-lance reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. After graduation, Kristen reported for The Providence Journal and, after that, for the Pensacola News Journal.She earned her law degree and a master’s in mass communication from the University of Florida in May 2010. Kristen served as senior research editor of the Florida Law Review, which awarded her comment about the Florida Supreme Court’s rejection of the tort of false light its 2009 Best Case Comment Award. During law-school summers, Kristen clerked for a U.S. district judge and in the legal department of Gannett Co., Inc. Most recently, she was the 2010-2011 Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Legal Fellow at the Reporters Committee.
