Legal Intern
Madelyn Whalen

Madelyn Whalen is a legal intern at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press.

Madelyn recently completed her first year of law school as part of the A. Barry Cappello Program in Trial Advocacy at UCLA School of Law. During her first year, Madelyn began competing on UCLA Law's Trial Team, where she practiced trying both criminal and civil rights cases in front of a jury.

Prior to law school, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she served as producer of the campus broadcast news station. She looks forward to learning about the intersection of law and journalism during her summer at the Reporters Committee.
