Mayeesha Galiba

Mayeesha Galiba is the Reporters Committee’s NBCU News Group Race Equity in Journalism Legal Fellow, focusing on providing pro bono legal support for journalists of color and newsrooms led by people of color. Mayeesha graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in May 2023. During law school, Mayeesha served as an articles editor for the Georgetown Law Journal, participated in the Health Justice Alliance legal clinic, and interned at Prisoners’ Legal Services of Massachusetts, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, and the Alameda County Public Defender.

Prior to law school, Mayeesha was a Fulbright fellow in Serbia. Mayeesha attended Northeastern University, where she co-oped at the Boston Globe, and graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in Government.
