A bill that would seal the list of concealed-carry permit holders in Arkansas is now in the hands of the state Senate, as the House of Representatives there passed the measure 98 to 1 last week, the Associated Press reports.
Rep. Randy Stewart, a concealed-carry instructor, pushed the legislation after the Arkansas Times’ Web site linked to a state police database of permit holders — a move the lawmaker called "atrocious," the AP said.
Similar legislative efforts to block the release of concealed-carry permit holder databases have taken hold recently in Virginia and Tennessee; in the latter case, lawmakers want to make it a crime to publish such information.
